January 6, 1939 – October 2, 2024

Born in Sosnowiec, Poland to her late parents Irene Rockfish of New York  and Henryk Heynar of Poland.

Betty arrived in America at age seven and lived in Manhattan, NY until her marriage to Alfred Gara (Somerville HS teacher) on July 13, 1957.  They were married for 52 years until Al’s passing on March 2, 2009.

Betty was employed by Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, a division of Johnson & Johnson, and worked in the Quality Assurance Dept. until her retirement on September 30, 1998.

Betty is survived by her two sons, Brent and his wife Doreen, Mark and his wife Stefanie, two daughters, Kathleen Gara and Christine Seiffert.  She loved her grandchildren, Nick and Rachel Gara, Jakob and Madison Gara, Grace and Jason Freeman, Daniel and Michael Seiffert and Jessica Dzugan.  She adored her five great-grandchildren, Brian, Abigail, Hayley and Isabella Seiffert and Smith Dzugan.

Betty’s only brother George, resides in San Diego, CA.  Her niece, Toni and grandniece Joey and family are presently living in Alaska.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 9 am – 11 am at Bongiovi Funeral Home, 416 Bell Avenue, Raritan, NJ (908) 725-1887 with a prayer service at 10:30 am followed by a burial at St. Bernard Cemetery, 551 Route 28, Bridgewater, NJ. www.bongiovifuneralhome.com
