Mary Eileen Baldwin, age 75 of Scotch Plains, NJ  died due to illness on May 8th, 2024.


She was born in Jersey City, NJ in 1948 to the late Mary (nee McGill) and Herbert Baldwin. Mary graduated from St. Mary of the Assumption High School, in Elizabeth, NJ. She attained her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Seton Hall University and her Master’s in Education from Kean University. Mary’s teaching career spanned over thirty years. She taught in the Newark Elementary School System, Mc Donogh 15 charter school of New Orleans, and Zuni, NM. Mary finished her career returning to the Newark School system where she taught the English Language Learners Program.


Mary was a published author and talented artist who crafted unique collage works. Her sense of adventure continued as she traveled across the United States and the world.  Mary positively influenced the many people she encountered both personally and professionally, Never forgetting those less fortunate, She was known to donate to established charities such as Shriner’s Children’s Hospital and The Wounded Warrior Project. Mary had a passion for education and never missed a teachable opportunity.


Mary E. Baldwin was preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her sons, Abram Baldwin of NJ, and Emmanuel Baldwin of NJ. Her sisters, Lynne Tarasuk  (John) of AR, Pamela McDonald (Tom) of NJ, Her brothers Herbert Baldwin Jr. (Karen) of PA, Michael Baldwin of PA, Christopher Baldwin of NJ, and David Baldwin (Sandy) of PA.


A Life Memorial will be held at a later date.
