Carmela Bongiovi Recine, age 91, died on Monday December 11, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 3, 1932, to her dear parents Marion Saladino and Louis Bongiovi.

Carmela was married to her late husband Salvatore Louis Recine for over 49 years. who died on January 9, 2001.  They resided together in Piscataway for over 46 years. Carmela was employed as a stock consultant at AT&T for over 25 years. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend to many.  Carmela was a kind, caring, generous person who had a keen sense of humor and was an avid reader. Carmela enjoyed her beach house :Shore Acres” in Brick Township where she loved entertaining her family and friends.  Cooking for everyone was one of the joys of her life.  She was a devoted Catholic and was a communicant of St. Frances Cabrini Church in Piscataway.  Carmela was a member of Red Hats and the Piscataway Senior Citizens group.

Carmela is survived by her 3 sons, Richard (Donna) of Piscataway NJ, Ronald of Tampa, Florida and James (Donna) of Piscataway NJ and her 7 loving grandchildren, Michael Recine, Tara Carlson (Erik), Nick Recine (Gina), Lindsay  Delatorre (Chaz), Ciena  Gentile (Patrick), Matthew Recine and Nicholas Recine and her 6 great-grandchildren Annabelle Gentile, Anthony Recine, Wyatt and Brody Carlson, Harlow Delatorre and Harper Recine.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Besides being predeceased by her loving husband and parents she is also predeceased by her brother Dominick “Boxie” Bongiovi.

Visitation will be held on Sunday December 17, 2023, between 4:00pm and 8:00pm at the Boylan Funeral Home 188 Easton Ave New Brunswick NJ.  Funeral services will be conducted on Monday December 18, 2023, 8:30am to 9:00am at the funeral home and followed by a 10:00am Funeral Mass at St Frances Cabrini Church 208 Bound Brook Ave Piscataway NJ.  Burial in Resurrection Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Bongiovi Funeral Home 416 Bell Avenue Raritan NJ 08869 telephone 908-725-1887.
