Lucy Barberi, 90, of Raritan, passed away peacefully at home on September 1, 2018 with her family at her side. Lucy was born in a small village near Moscow, Russia and left home when she was a teenager to work in Germany. There she met Adolph, the love of her life, during World War II. They were married for 57 years before he passed away in 2008. Lucy was co-owner and operator of Dolfe's Luncheonette on Somerset Street in Raritan, retiring in 1985. She worked tirelessly with her husband by her side for over 40 years, 7 days a week. Active in the Republican party in Raritan, Lucy was a great cook and liked to garden and sew. She was also a doting grandmother and loved to babysit. She was an extremely kind, caring and selfless wife, Mom and Grandmom who will be forever missed by her family. Lucy is survived by her 3 daughters, Elaine Barberi of Raritan, Linda Townsend and her husband Andrew of Sparta, Nancy Sullivan and her husband John of Monroe Township; 4 grandchildren Palmer, Tanya, Danny and Brian. She also leaves her family dog Pepe as well as 3 sisters and their families in the Ukraine. Visitation will be Thursday September 6th from 4 – 7 pm at the Bongiovi Funeral Home, 416 Bell Ave., Raritan, 908-725-1887. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dolfe Barberi Scholarship Fund, 73 W. Somerset Street, Raritan, NJ 08869 or the Community Visiting Nurse Association, 110 West End Avenue, Somerville, NJ 08876. "FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS"
