Obituary of Joan M Calabrese

Bridgewater, NJ – Joan (Sulla) Calabrese, 69, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerville, NJ with her loving family and friends by her side. She was born in Somerville, NJ on July 10, 1946 to her dear parents, Stella Specian and John Sulla. Joan graduated from Bridgewater-Raritan High School, attended Kutztown University and graduated from the Ducret School of Art. She worked as a commercial artist and photographer until she became a mother, and later was a homemaker, and a loving caregiver to her beloved grandchildren. Joan was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at the beach and in Atlantic City. She was an accomplished artist and cook, and loved preparing elaborate holiday meals for her family. Joan will be sadly missed and will live forever in our hearts. Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Pat Calabrese of Bridgewater NJ, her loving children, Carrie Tyler and her husband Dan of Mendham NJ, Jonathan Calabrese of Sharon Springs NY, two wonderful grandchildren, Anna and Luke Tyler, a dear brother, Greg Sulla and his wife Gail, two loving sisters, Frances Kramer and her husband Rich, and Bonnie Fluck and her husband Jay. She was predeceased by her parents, and a brother, Jeffrey Sulla. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016, 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Bongiovi Funeral Home, 416 Bell Avenue, Raritan, NJ 08869, (908-725-1887). Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, visitation 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Religious Service will be held at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial is private.
