Marie Rose Silotte Templier was born on October 8, 1918 in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti.  Marie Rose who is mostly known as Gran Silotte.  Daughter of the late Celina Rousseau and Pierre Templier.  She attended Pepechel Catholic School, where she learned how to sew.  She became a well known seamstress in her community.  She loved to seam and design pieces of clothing and bedding.

During her lifelong journey she met her lifelong partner the late Magloire Pyrol.  Marie Rose and Magliore together raised their 11 children.  She became a loving and nurturing mother to Antoine, Emmanuel, Marie-Therese, Pierre, Marco, Astride, Marie-Yvette, Jean-Robert, Jean-Baptiste and Jeannette-Soeurette.  Also, Marie Rose was a dignified grandmother to over 35 grandchildren and host of great-grandchildren and cherished great-great grandchildren.

In 1997, she left Haiti to come to New York to be closer to her loving family. Marie Rose truly loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. It brought her so much joy. But her most favorite activities were to watch Sunday masses and sew.

She was predeceased in death by Antoine, Emmanuel, Marco, Marie-Yvette, and Pierre and her partner Magloire Pyrol. She is survived by Marie-Therese, Astride, Jean-Robert, Jean-Baptiste, and Jeannette-Soeurette.

On March 26, 2024, Marie Rose passed away at home in Rahway, NJ where she was surrounded by her loving family. Marie Rose was 105 years old. She was a divine mother and outstanding grandmother. She was a God fearing woman. Marie Rose adored her family and they adored her. We have been so blessed to have known you, Silotte. We love you. And will forever miss you. Your love and laugh will forever be embedded on our hearts. May you Rest in Heavenly Peace with the Lord.

Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the Bongiovi Funeral Home 416 Bell Avenue, Raritan, NJ (908) 725-1887 www.Bongiovifuneralhome.com.  A Funeral Mass will be 9:30am on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Divine Mercy Parish Roman Catholic Church 232 Central Avenue, Rahway, NJ 07065 followed by an Entombment at St. Gertrude Cemetery 53 Inman Avenue, Colonia, NJ 07067.
