Obituary of Antonina Riga

Somerville, NJ

Antonina “Nina” Riga, 80, died on May 4, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on October 13, 1942, to her late parents Domenica (Michenzi) and Leoluca Rubino in Vibo Valentia, Calabria, Italy.

Antonina was a homemaker who loved cooking and baking, especially her “mastazzoli”.    Antonina was a devoted wife, loving mother, dearest nonna, sister, aunt and friend who took great pride in all facets of her life.

Besides her parents, Antonina was predeceased by four brothers Rocco, Francesco, Giuseppe and Michele and a sister Vittoria Adessi.

Antonina is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bruno, three sons Nicholas (Cheryl) Riga, Victor (Tina) Riga, and Luccio (Tina) Riga, three sisters Maria Rosa Rubino, Teresa Gullia (Domenico) and Giovanna Gullia, nine grandchildren Nicholas, Michael, Anthony, Jonathan, Gianni, Dominic, Bruno, Gregorio and Antonio, two sister-in-laws Rosa Rubino and Concetta Rubino and several nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2023, from 4:00-8:00PM and Monday May 8, 2023 from 8:30-10:15AM at the Bongiovi Funeral Home, 416 Bell Avenue, Raritan, NJ (908)725-1887.  A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 11:00AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 35 Mountain Avenue, Somerville, NJ.  Entombment will immediately follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Bridgewater, NJ.
