Obituary of Robert J Troeller Sr.
Pottstown, Pa
Robert J. Troeller Sr., loving husband of Carmela Orecchio Troeller (deceased), passed away peacefully on March 9, 2023, surrounded by family. Born in Elizabeth, NJ as the youngest of 5 boys to Edwin and Sarah Troeller, he and his brothers were a tight knit group who spent many a day frolicking in their Grier Avenue neighborhood.
Prior to marrying the love of his life (who he affectionately referred to as "Pudding") and settling down in Raritan, NJ, Robert served in the United States Army and was stationed in Berlin, Germany. While over in Germany, he played linebacker in an American semi-pro football league for the Berlin Bears. After receiving his honorable discharge, he and Carmela married and settled down to raise their family.
Bob worked for 38 years at the NJ Department of Transportation as a Heavy Equipment Operator before retiring in 1996. Not known for being slight in stature, the crew at the DOT nicknamed him "Tiny", a moniker he proudly wore to the delight of many. He loved to cook, repair his own cars, spend vacation in Wildwood at the Jersey Shore, and constantly worked on his house and yard (where his sons most likely learned many an expletive...)
He was incredibly proud of his 2 sons, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren:
Sons Robert Jr., husband to Linda Dellaquila, and Scott, husband to Victoria Exnicios. Grandchildren Megan (wife of Kenneth Ternlund), Lauren, Michael (husband to Madi Scaringella), Brandon, Kimberly, Deirdre, and Zachary, and great-grandchildren Luca Joseph (deceased) and Sienna Marie.
He is also survived by his oldest brother Edward and wife Gloria, and was predeceased by brothers William and wife Mildred, Charles and wife Ruth, and Francis and wife Regina.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation and prayer service which will be held from 9:30-11:00AM on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Bongiovi Funeral Home in Raritan, NJ, followed by burial in St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Cemetery immediately after.
