Obituary of Sr. Anne Marie Pace, MPF

SISTER ANNE MARIE PACE, MPF

Sr. Anne Marie Pace, MPF, 98, died Friday, October 14, 2022, at St. Joseph Hall Infirmary, Villa Walsh, Morristown, NJ.

The viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 19, beginning at 2:00 p.m., in St. Lucy Chapel, Villa Walsh, Morristown, NJ, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 4:00 p.m. The interment will take place at Ave Maria Cemetery at Villa Walsh. Arrangements are by Bongiovi Funeral Home, Raritan, NJ 908-725-1887.

Born in Dunmore, PA, Sr. Anne Marie entered the Religious Teachers Filippini in 1940.   She received the habit in 1941 and made her religious profession in 1945.  

Sr. Anne Marie earned a BS degree in Elementary Education from Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ, and was awarded a MS degree in Social Studies from Canisius College, Buffalo, NY.

In her 81 years of religious life, Sr. Anne Marie faithfully ministered as a classroom teacher in the (arch)dioceses of Baltimore, Hartford, Metuchen, Newark, Scranton, and Trenton. Her love for teaching and guiding students in the faith was evidenced by the many students who continued corresponding with Sr. Anne Marie long after graduating from elementary school.  

In 1999, Sr. Anne Marie was honored by the Diocese of Trenton as an Outstanding Catholic Educator. This award was in recognition of her faithful and dedicated service to the Catholic community.

Following her years of active ministry in education, Sr. Anne Marie retired to the Motherhouse at Villa Walsh in 2020.

One of ten children, Sr. Anne Marie is predeceased by her parents Domenick Pace and Mary Santarsiero, her six brothers and three sisters. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
