Obituary of Manuel Lopes Ribeiro

Manuel Lopes Ribeiro, 78, of Hillsborough, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Manuel was born on March 26, 1944 to Antonio and Emilia Ribeiro in Moita Redonda, Portugal. To help support his family, he left home at 11 to work at the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima. Later, Manuel joined the Portuguese Armed Forces and was deployed to Angola where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. After completing his military service, Manuel moved to the United States in 1969 and enrolled at Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, PA. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree, he had a successful accounting career at Ernst & Young and RCA. In 1982, he founded his first concrete contracting business and went on to start several large construction companies, serving as CEO until his retirement. Manuel’s passion was spending time with his family. He married the love of his life, Lourdes, in 1975 and they had two children, Brian and Crystal. He appreciated the simple things in life, such as gardening, fishing, playing games, and walking on the beach. Above all, Manuel really enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. Manuel is survived by his beloved wife, Lourdes Ribeiro, loving children Brian Ribeiro (Amanda) and Crystal Chobotor (Christopher), cherished grandchildren Logan and Ava, brother Jose Maria Ribeiro (Isabel), and three sisters Fatima Roseiro (Manuel), Belmeira Sauret (Yves), and Rosa Soares (Manuel). He is predeceased by his brother Joaquim Ribeiro and sister Barbara Alves.
