Obituary of Lucille Frances Alves

Raritan NJ

Lucille Frances Alves, age 84, died on Tuesday August 16, 2022.  She was born on June 7, 1938 in Raritan NJ to her dear parents Elizabeth and Joseph Torlish.

Lucille loved playing bingo and crocheting.  She was active for over thirty years as an Avon representative and enjoyed the years spent as a Cub Scout Den Mother.  Lucille was a communicant of St Ann Church in Raritan NJ.  Family and friends knew one thing about Lucille was that she was an awesome cook.  Everyone loved her sauce and meatballs and her kitchen was always open to everyone.  Lucille enjoyed waitressing at Snuffy’s Restaurant and Phoenix Café in Somerville NJ. She was a strong willed, kind, caring, generous and compassionate person who touched many lives. Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt and  she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.  

Lucille is survived by her son David Alves of Middlesex NJ and two daughters Lisa Alves of Glen Gardner NJ and Judith Pfau and son in law Tom of Pennsylvania, her cherished grandchildren Michael, Angela, Sarah, Edie and Luke and her great grandchildren Austin, Cameron and Jamie.   She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Lucille was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband David Alves (1999), brothers John and Joseph Torlish and sisters Mary Brown and Betty Jensen.

A viewing will take place on Tuesday August 23, 2022 between 9:00am and 11:00am at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rt 202 S Branchburg NJ followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am at St Ann Catholic Church 45 Anderson Street Raritan NJ.  Burial will take place at St Bernard Cemetery Rt 28 Bridgewater NJ.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Bongiovi Funeral Home of Raritan NJ 908-725-1887 utilizing the Branchburg Funeral Home facility for a visitation on Tuesday.
