Obituary of Susan (Kaschak) Kolans

Susan (Kaschak) Kolans , 83 passed away peacefully at 5:12 January 18th 2022, with her loving son Kevin and daughter in law Brenda by her side.

Born on February 19, 1938 and raised in West Orange New Jersey, Susan was a graduate of West Orange High School in 1956. Susan loved being around and socializing with family and friends, especially with the late Frank Mchugh (2019), her favorite cousin and best friend. Susan worked part time for Dr. Edwards in the late 70s and Dr. Fagehbaum in the early 80s. Susan was also an active member of Mary Mother of God Church.

Later in life Susan enjoyed her time between Lake Worth, Florida and Lavallette New Jersey, making Lavallette her permanent residence in 1992. Suzy loved enjoying the beach with her friends and family in her later years. She also loved playing golf in Florida, but her favorite was staying up late with Frank Mchugh and friends, drinking Schmidt’s beer and singing “show me the way to go home” into the wee hours of the morning.

Suzy stayed in her Lavallette home until the very end thanks to the help of her best friends, Piera Bruni, Brenda and DJ who never left her side.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Kolans in 1985, her second husband Richard Kaschak in 2017 and older brothers, Richard and Thomas Mchugh. Surviving are her loving son, Kevin Kolans of Lavallette NJ; daughter in law Brenda Bruni and her cherished grandchildren, Kyle, Jayden and Lexi Blu. Daughter Corinne Plennert of Pennsylvania and grandchildren Jesse and Christina. Also surviving from her second marriage are 7 stepchildren and 21 grandchildren.

Visitation Monday, January 24, 2022 from 5pm to 7pm and  from 10am to 11am on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the Bongiovi Funeral Home 416 Bell Avenue, Raritan, NJ (908) 725-1887. Burial St. Bernard Cemetery, Bridgewater, NJ.
