Obituary of Bernadette Mary Chemidlin

BRICK-     Bernadette Mary Chemidlin, affectionally known as “Joy”, 63, died on Saturday, November 27, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on September 14, 1958 to the late Theresa and Fred J. Chemidlin in Plainfield, NJ. While growing up in Fanwood, Joy attended St. Bartholomew the Apostle grade school and Union Catholic High School both in Scotch Plains NJ.

Bernadette was employed as a Senior Loan Officer at Advisors Mortgage Group in Ocean Township, NJ, and is remembered fondly by many of those she helped by working tirelessly to make their home-ownership dreams come true.

Bernadette moved to the Jersey Shore as a young adult because she loved the ocean: beachfront sunrises and bayside sunsets always brought her great peace. ‘Joy’ enjoyed dancing to live music in her beloved Jersey Shore towns, swimming in her pool, and spending holidays with her large family including her 100+ cousins, aunts, uncles’ nieces, and nephews. Bernadette was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and above all, was devoted to her Catholic Faith.  She was a long-time parishioner of St. Dominic’s Parish in Brick, NJ.  Bernadette was a kind and loving woman, who, during her life, was a selfless caregiver to so many and will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.

Bernadette is survived by her loving daughter Emma Rose Thompson (John), cherished grandchildren Jack and Maple, Godson Daniel Carle (Colleen), siblings: brothers, David Chemidlin (Cora), Peter Chemidlin (Joan), Matthew Chemidlin (Janice), and sister, Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Carman (Darryl) and many nieces, nephews and godchildren.  She is predeceased by her parents and her sister, Rosemarie Lingo.

Visitation 6:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the Bongiovi Funeral Home 416 Bell Avenue, Raritan, NJ (908) 725-1887 and from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday, December 3, 2021 at O’Brien Funeral Home 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, NJ (732) 899-8600.  Funeral Mass 10:00am Saturday, December 4, 2021 at St. Dominc Roman Catholic Church 250 Old Squan Road, Brick, NJ followed by a burial at St. Magdalen Cemetery, Flemington, NJ.
