Obituary of Patrick T. Mastice

RARITAN-    Patrick T. Mastice, 91, died on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at RWJ Barnabas Trauma Center in New Brunswick.  He was surrounded with love and prayers from his immediate family as he entered into eternal life.  He was born in Bound Brook Hospital, NJ to his late parents Rose and Maurice Mastice. 

Patrick was drafted into the Army serving as a Combat Leader Trainer in combat and in Medical Corp. technology stationed at Camp Pickett, Virginia during the Korean Conflict.   He was employed by the Federal Government Veterans Administration in Newark, NJ, as a residential appraiser where he worked tirelessly making sure veterans obtained their mortgages for over 25 years. 

Patrick also was committed to his home town of Raritan.  He was a member of the John Basilone Parade Committee for 25 years and served as co-chair in 2020.  He remembers meeting his hometown hero when the town of Raritan honored John Basilone for his meritorious valor in Guadacanal.  His uncle John Scarponi stopped by the Mastice home to introduce him to the family. 

Patrick was honored as volunteer of the year in 2011 along with his wife Kathryn.  He was an active parishioner of the Church of St. Ann where he served in the Holy Name Society.  He was a CCD teacher in the Special Needs Children’s program. 

Pat was a loving husband and father to his sons, daughters and grandchildren.  He spent many wonderful hours extending care and need to his extended family and to all those who needed his advice and counsel.

Patrick loved traveling with his wife and friends.  They took 2 trips to Italy where he spoke and understood the language and would help fellow travelers in their need.  They traveled to California and most of the Southern States for many memorable vacations.

Patrick is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Kathryn, loving sons John Mastice (Kathleen) of Bridgewater, Paul Mastice (Cindy) of No. Carolina and Patrick Mastice, Jr. of Florida, cherished grandchildren John Robert Mastice and Matthew Joseph Mastice of Bridgewater, a sister-in-law Florence Mastice, brother-in-law Thomas Amoroso, Jr., many cousins, nieces, nephews and loyal friends will always remember his gentle manner.  He is predeceased by his brother Maurice Mastice, Jr. (2020).

Visitation from 4:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Bongiovi Funeral Home 416 Bell Avenue, Raritan, NJ (908) 725-1887.  Funeral services Friday, July 16, 2021 beginning with a visitation from 9:00am to 10:15am at the funeral home followed by an 11:00am Funeral Mass at the Church of St. Ann 45 Anderson Street, Raritan, NJ.  Entombment at St. Bernard Mausoleum, Bridgewater, NJ.  To send an on-line condolence visit www.Bongiovifuneralhome.com
