The Bakshi’s were our nextdoor neighbors on West Shore Drive since we joined the community in 2003. Simi and Neal were the first to welcome us to the area, back when Simi actually towered over Neal! The Bakshi’s became good neighbors and trusted, close friends through storms Sandy and Irene, good times and challenging episodes. They were always open to us for a chat, an exchange of some exquisite food, and the odd gardening tip. It was a pleasure to drop by and be entertained by Simi's optimistic nature, dulcet tones, friendly smiling face, and elegant angle as she leaned into conversation. We watched Simi’s and Aneesh’s children grow and eventually venture forth on their own paths and their parents grow old and pass on, all the while admiring this loving and tight family of which Simi helped us feel an integral, if peripheral part. As Simi and Aneesh were anticipating retirement, they were ticking off their bucket list including a visit to Bruce’s home country in Australia and were filled with hope and wondrous plans for their future. We recently left Pennington for Boston and hoped to reconnect frequently as Salina and her new husband reside nearby. On a recent return trip we dropped by and, for the first time, were not greeted in the usual cheering exuberance, but with somber retiring faces and the explanation that still seems impossible. How can such a light cease to shine? Simi - We miss you dearly and wish you and your family peace.
