Obituary of Louise E. Salerno

RARITAN- Louise Salerno, 89, a long time resident of Raritan Borough passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2020. She was born on August 6, 1930, in Bound Brook, NJ, to the late Peter and Catherine Imbriani. Louise was predeceased by the love of her life of 67 years, the late Alex F. Salerno, and together they raised their children in Raritan Borough, NJ. Louise worked for the borough for 29 years, and was promoted to Raritan Borough Clerk in 1987, before retiring in 2003. She was often referred to as “Mrs. Raritan” for her depth of knowledge and devotion to the community. She loved her work, often crediting the people in government and the residents who made her job worthwhile. She was a member of The Church of Saint Ann Rosary Altar Society, and Raritan Borough Senior Citizens. Louise was a talented homemaker as well. She was a wonderful cook, sewed and tailored her many of her children’s clothes, and loved to shop. Her favorite pastime, however, was being surrounded by her family and loved ones. Louise was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Louise is survived by her daughters Diane Manfready and husband Richard of Ocean, NJ, Katherine Licht and her husband Joseph of Raritan Borough, her son Alexander F. Salerno, Jr. also of Raritan Borough, grandsons Richard A. Manfready, MD, Michael A. Manfready, LSW, Alexandra K. Licht, and Danielle K. Licht. She is predeceased by her husband Alex F. Salerno (June 20, 2019), her sisters Lillian Gardyne, Mary Rizzo, and brothers Carmen, Peter, Joseph and Michael Imbriani.
