Obituary of Sr. Anna Iantorno, MPF
MORRISTOWN- Sr. Anna Iantorno, MPF, a member of the Religious Teachers Filippini, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at St. Joseph Hall, Villa Walsh, Morristown, NJ at the age of 92.
The viewing for Sr. Anna will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 4:00 p.m. at the St. Lucy Chapel at Villa Walsh, Morristown, NJ. The celebrant and homilist is Rev. Ron Sordillo, pastoral minister of St. Joseph Hall. Interment will take place at Ave Maria Cemetery.
Sr. Anna was born and raised in Dunmore, PA. She entered the Religious Teachers Filippini in 1942, received her habit in 1943, and made her religious profession in 1946. She was a member of the community for 75 years. Sr. Anna was awarded a BS degree in Elementary Education from St. John University, Cleveland, OH; and an MA at Canisius College, Buffalo, NY.
Sr. Anna served in elementary education as a teacher and later as principal. Sr. Anna taught in the following schools: St. Anthony, Bellville, NJ; St. Anthony, Union City, NJ; Holy Rosary, Cleveland, OH; Christ the King, Pueblo, CO; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Schenectady, NY; St. Anthony, Akron, OH; Holy Innocents, Neptune, NJ; St. Mary of Mt. Virgin, New Brunswick, NJ; St. Bartholomew, Scotch Plains, NJ; St. Cecelia, Iselin, NJ.
Sr. Anna served as principal and superior at St. Ann Raritan, NJ, and at St. Mary of Mt. Virgin, New Brunswick, NJ.
and at St. Anthony, Akron, OH.
Sr. Anna was honored by the Diocese of Metuchen May 13, 1992, at the Celebration of Excellence in Education, and on May 7, 2002, received the Catholic Educators Award from the Diocese of Metuchen. No matter where Sister Anna served she was loved, respected, and will be remembered for her kindness, gentleness and ever smiling expression.

Sr. Anna is the daughter of the late Frank Iantorno and Grace (Del Rosso) Iantorno and is predeceased by her brothers Louis, Nicholas, Frank, and Victor Yantorno. She is survived by her beloved sister Madelyn Bernasiak of North Royalton, OH.
