Obituary of Josephine Forktus

Josephine "Jo" Forktus, 84, of Raritan, died peacefully on December 13, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 14, 1933 in Bound Brook, to her dear parents Luigina (Russo) and Dominic Simonetti. Jo was the executive secretary for over 20 years at St. Ann's Church in Raritan and at St. Ann's School for 6 years, where she was a communicant and a member the Rosary Altar Society. During her children's school years at St. Ann's School, she volunteered as a librarian, a cafeteria aide and at Bingo. She also volunteered for the St. Ann's Festa. Jo loved sports, especially the NY Yankees and NY Jets. She enjoyed reading, traveling and cooking for her family. Loving and generous, Jo was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Jo is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Stephen W. Forktus, 3 loving sons, Stephen J. Forktus, Mark (Victoria) Forktus, and David Forktus, 5 cherished grandchildren, Jacob, Sandra Jo, Erica, Justin and Nicole, 1 adored great-granddaughter, Katie Jo, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and 2 dear brothers, Vincent and Paul Simonetti.
