Raritan, NJ – Elsie A. Foohey, 94, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2016. She was born in Bronx, NY on February 28, 1922 to her late parents, Agnes and William Hanzdon. Elsie was a resident of Raritan for 68 years.

Elsie was a Secretary in the Personnel Dept. at Ethicon in Bridgewater from 1966 through 1982 when she retired. Prior to retirement she was a Receptionist for Dr. William F. Jones in Somerville from 1961 through 1966. She was the recording secretary for the Raritan Senior Citizens and enjoyed their bus trips to Atlantic City. Elsie loved to cook and sew, watch game shows, go to garage sales, and spoil her grandchildren. She loved polka music and would dance up a storm in her younger years. Elsie was always willing to give advice, and she maintained a sharp mind until the end. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. Elsie was a kind, caring, generous person, and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Elsie is survived by her loving children, James K. Foohey Jr. and Judith Menkowski, three grandchildren, Matt Jr., Janet (Jon) Ribau, Michelle Menkowski and Matthew Menkowski Jr., one great-grandson, Jacob, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved, James K. Foohey Sr. (May 8, 1999), her son, William Allen Foohey (1961), and her sister, Mary Morgan (2013).

Funeral Services, Thursday, January 5, 2017, viewing 8:30 to 9:15 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Bernard's Clairvaux Church, Bridgewater, NJ.

Entombment, St. Bernard's Cemetery, Bridgewater, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
