Frank Jay Kahn Obituary

Frank Jay Kahn, 96, died January 19, 2026. He was born in Baden Baden, Germany on February 23, 1929. Before the age of 10, his family fled Nazi Germany and endured a 3 year odyssey thru France, Spain, Portugal and Morocco before finally arriving in New York via the SS Serpa Pinto. Frank spent his formative years in Queens, NY and specifically, Forest Hills.

He married Marilyn Pentasky, they settled first in Linden NJ and then Colonia NJ. They welcomed two sons, Jay and then Larry, along the way.

A few years after Marilyn's untimely passing, Frank met Joan Golias (Basilone) with whom he spent the rest of his life. With Joan and her large family, it became an even larger, blended crew.

Frank was proud to serve his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He held a variety of jobs until he finally retired in his 80s. He really liked to work and loved interacting with people. He also loved animals and cherished all the family dogs he had over the years.

He loved to joke and, out of the blue, could say or do something unexpected and have people in stitches.

Nearly 97 years old when he passed, he was mentally sharp until the end and could remember almost any detail from any point in his life. He was truly a miracle in many ways.

Frank is survived by; his two sons, Jay Kahn and Larry Kahn; his life partner, Joan Golias; Joan's children (Frank's "step children"), Mary Basilone and John Gildea, Susan Justice, Walter and Therese Basilone, Richard and Gera Basilone, Joseph and Laura Golias, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Frank was preceded in death by; his late wife Marilyn Kahn and his brother and sister-in-law George and Ruth Kahn.
