Georgios Stylianou Obituary

Georgios Stylianou

7 February 1965 - 24 November 2025

Georgios Stylianou (60) of Linden, New Jersey, died peacefully in Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey on November 24, 2025 at 11:21AM with his partner, Svetlana Stylianou, by his side. George was born on February 7, 1965 in Pentageia Village, just nine years before the Turkish Occupation. He and his family fled Northern Cyprus and built roots in Gerakies Village, Cyprus, where George grew up. George was known as a loving and kind spirit, and always knew how to be entertaining through his story telling or dance moves.

In his younger years, George had an effortless charm and people were naturally drawn to him. He was fun to be around - someone whose company you genuinely enjoyed. He loved being around friends and he was always generous - always ready to help anyone without a second thought.

Among many things George enjoyed in his life, he especially loved the Sopranos, scotch whiskey, and had a passion for sports cars. His IROC-Z and Trans Am were his pride and joy - and he always had an eye for the finer things.

George officially migrated to New Jersey in 2002 with his wife Svetlana, son Valentino, and stepson Nicholas. George was a business man and entrepreneur, always having passionate ideas on how to make a difference. He worked hard his whole life - whether he was building swimming pools or working in restaurants, diners, and pizzerias. He spent his most recent years at Tropicana Diner and Bakery in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where he was not only the night-time floor manager but also took care of the diner with any random task, like installing the booth legs himself. He loved being around people and having meaningful conversations with just anyone. George was a reliable individual that shared his love for life, and Cyprus, with everyone.

George had a strong character, didn’t take nonsense from anyone, and lived with a spirit that was both adventurous and determined. He was a good man with a big presence and even bigger heart.

George is survived by his partner, Svetlana Stylianou, who lovingly cared for him throughout their 29 years of life together, his son Valentino, his stepson Nicholas (wife Angela), his parents Andreas (wife Kyriakou), his brother Charalambos (wife Nikki), his sister Maria, and his many nephews and nieces who will all remember his love, work ethic, and kindness.

A vewing wll take place on Saturday, Noveber 29, 2025, from 1 PM - 6 PM, with a service at 4 PM, at Bongiovi Funeral Home, 416 Bell Avenue, Raritan, NJ (908)725-1887.

George will be buried in his hometown of Gerakies Village, Cyprus.
