Andrew Bailey
July 6, 1952 – August 13, 2025
Andrew Bailey, 73, of Branchburg, NJ, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife Florence, daughter Giovanna, and his nurse.
Born on July 6, 1952, in Denver, Colorado, Andrew was the son of Ruth (Cowden) Bailey and Maxwell Bailey. He spent his high school years in Smyrna, TN, before proudly enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. He served during the Vietnam War and during that time, was also stationed in Germany and Alaska.
Following his service, Andrew moved to Ohio and went on to work in several security roles, including in jail facilities. However, his most cherished role began in 1986—portraying Santa Claus. For nearly four decades, he brought joy and smiles to children and adults alike, a role that reflected his generous heart and love for others.
Andrew is survived by his devoted wife, Florence; his beloved daughter, Giovanna “Gigi” Bailey; brothers, Mike and Scott Bailey; sister, Pam Bailey-Marcum; and cousin, Marilyn Cowden Satterfield. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Trina Bailey-Rutter, and niece Angela Marcum.
A memorial service will be held at the family home. For details, please contact Florence or Gigi Bailey.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charities close to Andrew’s heart: Toys for Tots (www.toysfortots.org), Make-A-Wish Foundation (www.wish.org/nj), or any children’s charity of your choice. It would have brought a twinkle in his eye.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the VNA, as well as to friends and family who have offered love and support during this difficult time.
Arrangements are private and under the direction of Bongiovi Funeral Home, 416 Bell Avenue, Raritan, NJ (908-725-1887 | www.bongiovifuneralhome.com).
