Lysle Joseph Heney, III (August 3 1955 - July 3 2025)
Lysle Heney, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at Regency Heritage Nursing Center on Thursday, July 3rd at the age of 69.
Dad was born in Somerville, NJ in 1955 and graduated from Middlesex High School in 1973. He attended Middlesex Community College, and on June 13th, 1976, married the love of his life, Carol Ann Platz, also of Middlesex, NJ.
Lysle then graduated from Iowa's Drake University in 1978, after which he then spent his professional life as a Pharmacist in south Jersey providing lifesaving medications for the community. So, it was a cruel twist of fate that he should spend half his life combatting a progressive disease for which there is no cure: in 1993, Lysle was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. And yet, he still managed to live a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of all who knew him.
He was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Millville, NJ, and served on the Church Council. He served as a parent leader of Boy Scout Troop 5, of Trinity United Methodist Church also in Millville, joining his sons and their friends on multiple camping trip adventures across the Delaware Valley. He also was a founding member of the Off Broad Street Players, a South Jersey community theater organization, and served briefly on its board as treasurer.
Lysle is survived by his children, Jason Heney (Michelle), Matthew Heney (Amanda Lewis), and Lisa Brody (Taylor); grandchildren, Caitlyn, Erin, and Caden; sister, Marsha; cousins, Stephen Wystrach and Gretchen Wystrach; and dear friend Cathy Butler.
He is dearly missed by his family and friends, who will cherish memories of his kindness, generosity, and warm spirit. A celebration of his life is tentatively planned to be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Millville, NJ on Sunday, August 3rd at 11am.
Funeral arrangements are made under the direction of Bongiovi Funeral Home 416 Bell Ave Raritan NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society in his name.
