Obituary of Eugene Luciano
Eugene Luciano peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on the evening of Sunday, May 18th, 2025. One of four boys, he was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, to Pasqualena (Lena) Maresca and Frank R. Luciano on March 23, 1939.
At the age of 17, he joined the United States Navy to serve his country for six years as a signalman on the USS Barton DD 722. He was always proud and honored to have served his country in the Navy. Shortly after his service, he worked for 25 years at Abraham & Strauss as an interior decorator, where he met the love of his life, Janette Chioffe. On Sunday, May 26, 1963, Eugene and Janette united their love in the sacrament of marriage. Following the birth of their two daughters, they moved to Somerville, NJ, in February of 1974 to raise their family. After retiring from A & S, Eugene worked for 20 years at the United States Postal Service as a clerk. Toward the end of his working career, he assisted his friend with decorating holiday store displays and window design across the country. A talented artist and creative, Eugene always had an eye for design and loved to teach his grandchildren how to draw. He was the most dedicated father and grandfather, always supporting his loved ones to go after their dreams. He set a beautiful precedent for his family, teaching them to be hardworking, proud of their accomplishments, and to never give up. Eugene would light up any room with his laugh and his smile; any life that he touched would have felt his love, and would have savored his countless playful & animated stories from growing up in Brooklyn and being in the Navy. He shared his love of baseball, boxing, fishing, and Frank Sinatra with his adoring family. His family and friends deeply loved him.
Eugene is predeceased by his brothers Frank (Sonny) John Luciano & Richard (Ritchie) Luciano.
He is survived by his beloved wife Janette; his two daughters April Louise and Andora Lynn; his grandchildren Eric Douglas & his wife Amanda Ann, Ashley Nicole, Alyssa Grace, and Sofia Juliet; his two great-grandchildren Bailey Ann and Grant Douglas; his brother Sebastian (Buster) and his wife Eileen; his son-in-law Douglas McKinley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, devoted friends and neighbors.
