Rosemary Forte

Obituary of Rosemary C Forte

Please share a memory of Rosemary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Rosemary Forte, 85, died on Friday, May 16, 2025.  She was born on September 4, 1939 in Somerville, NJ to the late Sadie and Anthony Forte.

Rosemary lived her whole life at 8 East Somerset Street, Raritan.  Her home was the "stop over" point for all who were journeying on their life's destination.  Whether it was a place to celebrate a holiday, a conversation about a life decision, a need for rest or replenishment, Rosemary's home was there for everyone.  She listened and responded with great empathy even for people that she did not know.  If you were concerned about someone, so was she.

Rosemary grew up next door to St. Joseph's school which she attended and then continued on to Somerville High School.  She remained active in her alumni class reunions for all of her life always willing to make plans and contact classmates.  She worked for the Somerset County Extension Service of Rutgers and after her tragic paralysis faced all her challenges with patience, determination and good will which manifested deep bonds with people who would become her "extended family".

As Rosemary's earthly journey has ended, we know that through our experiences with her and our memories of her, she will continue to help us all at those "stop over" moments on our life's journey.

Ohh Rosie, she fought the good fight and now the crown of glory awaits her in
God’s kingdom. She had strength, resilience, carried her disability with grace and
dignified acceptance. What was most impressive was how many hearts and persons
she touched even in that small confined space. Great mum and grandmother to the
children. She left her mark of love and generosity. Who would look out of the small
window to the railway station of Raritan and guide visitors home? A beacon of light and an anchor of hope. Smile on Rosie.

May her lovely soul rest in peace.

Rosemary is survived by her brother Frank A. Forte, Sr., and nephews Frank Forte, Jr. and Anthony Forte.  She is prdeceased by her parents and a sister-in-law Marie Forte.
