David Zimmerman 

December 17, 1960 – May 17, 2026 

“Not gone, just a lap ahead.” 

David Zimmerman, 65, passed away on May 17, 2026. 

David will be remembered for his warm heart, quick wit, and the joy he brought to those around him. He had a natural ability to make people laugh and was rarely without a joke, a story, or a smile to share. His sense of humor and loving nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. 

David had a lifelong passion for race cars and racing. He loved working on cars and was always willing to help family, friends, and neighbors with theirs. Whether lending a hand in the garage or cheering on his favorite drivers, he found happiness in the things he loved and the people he shared them with. 

To those who knew him best, David was simply “Pop Pop.” His garage, affectionately known as Pop Pop’s Shop, was more than just a place to work on cars—it was a gathering place where family, friends, and neighbors could stop by, share stories, lend a hand, and enjoy each other’s company. Some of the best memories were made there, and it reflected the generous and welcoming spirit that defined him. 

Above all else, David cherished his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Jayla, and looked forward to their trips to the movies together. The memories he created with his family will be treasured forever. 

David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Loretta Zimmerman (Fine); his mother, Annice Zimmerman; and his faithful dog, Smujj. 

He is survived by his father, Al Zimmerman (Regina); his brothers, George Zimmerman (Melinda) and Ken Zimmerman (Tatiana); his stepson, John Fine; his stepdaughter, Heather Fine; his granddaughter, Jayla; his grandsons, Manny (Nina), Uriah, and JJ; his goddaughter, Stephanie Fine; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. 

David’s legacy of love, laughter, kindness, and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. 

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held in Dave's honor August 8, 2026, from 3PM – 7PM at the Bradley Garden American Legion 77 Old York Rd Bridgewater NJ 08807.  Please join us to honor a great man.
